Explore Our Graduate Degree Programs
The School of Theology and Ministry’s curriculum aims to address the current needs and questions of today’s world by equipping leaders with interdisciplinary knowledge, field-based professional skills, and spiritual frames of meaning. Our students come from almost every decade of life experience and an array of religious backgrounds and faith perspectives.
Master of Arts
We are pleased to announce the introduction of a new 54-credit academic degree program. The Master of Arts is a flexible program that will allow students to explore theology, spirituality or religious studies in specialized and more individualized courses of study. The degree offers the option of a focus in spiritual direction, general theological studies, or spirituality. Other focus areas will become available in the future.
Master of Divinity
The Master of Divinity degree prepares students for leadership roles in congregations, faith-based communities, and ministerial settings. Students develop skills to interpret scripture, foster theological reflection and draw upon a rich theological heritage to sustain an effective pastoral practice. As reflective practitioners, students integrate classroom studies and interpersonal learning with meaningful internship experiences throughout the greater Seattle area.
Doctor of Ministry
The Doctor of Ministry degree equips students to be mindful agents of change as influential leaders for a more just and humane world. Student-practitioners serve and impact evolving local and global communities in concrete ways.
Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies
The Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies degree helps students to deepen self-knowledge, explore Christian traditions, and develop skills to minister in church and society. The MAPS degree specifically addresses pastoral leadership skill development within congregations and faith-based communities. As reflective practitioners, students integrate classroom studies and interpersonal learning with meaningful internship experiences throughout the greater Seattle area.
Master of Arts in Couples & Family Therapy
The Master of Arts in Couples & Family Therapy prepares effective couples and family therapists who integrate faith or spirituality at the clients’ request. Students are trained to assess, diagnose, consult, and treat under the guidance of state approved and AAMFT approved supervisors who are licensed clinicians. While learning about clients’ diverse backgrounds and faith traditions, students engage in self-of-the-therapist exploration and spiritual formation in order to better understand themselves as holistic beings. Graduates are prepared to clinically heal and empower diverse relationships and individuals across faith traditions and cultural locations.
Master of Arts in Transformational Leadership
The Master of Arts in Transformational Leadership degree combines the study of leadership theory and practice, peacebuilding, ethics, and spirituality to empower students as leaders for a more just and humane world. Students are prepared to lead in their specific vocational context through deepening self-awareness and reflection. Together, they explore ways of bringing groups to new social consciousness, global understanding, and personal interconnectedness.
